What is a Refrigeration Cycle?

This is a cycle diagram for a refrigeration cycle. The system uses a work input to absorb heat from the cold reservoir and then rejects heat to the hot reservoir.

Refrigeration Cycle

The purpose of a refrigeration cycle is to transfer heat out of a cold reservoir.
Work input is required in order to accomplish this.
Heat must also be rejected to a high temperature reservoir.
