Process Path

A process path is the actual series of states that the system passes through as it moves from the initial state to the final state during a process.

Initial State

Final State

A series of states make up the process path.

When the value of a property changes, the system is at a new state.

At a given state all the properties of a system are fixed and can be measured or calculated.

A system can continue to change one or more of its properties.
As it does so, it moves from one state to another.
The series of states through which a system moves.
During a process, a system moves from an initial state to a final state, but its properties do not abruptly jump from the values at the initial state and instantly take the values associated with the final state.
The properties of the system change smoothly as the process progresses from the initial state to the final state.
The series of states in which the system exists during the process is called the process path.
