What is a Process ?

In the previous lesson, we defined a state as the condition of
a substance or system that is determined by its properties.

We also learned that when the value of a property of the system changes, the system is in a different state. This is called a

process

Any event that results in a change in the state of a system is called a process.
In some sense, most every event you can think of could be considered to be a process.
We need to refine this idea just a bit to see why it is important in thermodynamics.
